Knock Bay

Sunday the 13th of June 2010
A scheduled boat trip over to Ailsa Craig was called off because of the threat of bad weather.
With the early morning rain clearing I decided on a visit to the north west Rhins.
My objective was the ruins of Knock Cable House for a Bill Burns Project.
Scottish Cable Huts
It's well ruined now but the remains can be seen in one of the following pictures.

After parking at Kilantringan Lighthouse,I made my way north over some tricky rocks and terrain.
Didn't meet a soul going, but there were quite a few intrepid families descending to the bays as I returned.

Below are a few of the pictures I took.
As well as the geese, seagulls and ringed plovers I just caught sight of a sleek body heading into the waves. The photograph of it's tracks confirmed what I'd seen. One of these days I'll get a picture.
The kite flyers in the penultimate picture must have made their way down from the House of Knock or the other big house after I'd come back because I didn't pass them.
This stretch of coast is just beautiful.
