The sun was shining in the last week of September as I went round Blairmount Pond.
I couldn't see the ducklings this day, but I have it on good authority that they're still there.
Sadly though the seven have been reduced to five.
The brambles however were juicy
The small pond was looking a picture as usual
Then I noticed several dragonflies zipping around
Difficult to photograph in flight, but I got this one just landing.
I decided to sit for a moment on the decking. They then occasionally landed near enough for me to get a few close ups.
Here's a few of the better ones.
I also tried some video
Down to five, but they are doing well! Your camera is also doing a great job Jim, lovely close ups of the dragons. I must stroll around to my ponds and see what's happening.
ReplyDeletePS If I ever visit Scotland, I will be sure to bring my Zentai suit - after following your link the ticks are inconsequential, it's those sleekit clegs I'm running from.... :)
Your photos are beautiful! Dragonflies aren't easy to capture, and as you mentioned, especially in flight, but you did a fine job capturing them.
ReplyDeleteWe used to go bramble picking and ate them until our tongues were purple and our tummies ached.

ReplyDeleteAh, Ruddy Darters. I prefer them to wasps any day. Nice dragons.
