The Big Freeze Continues

Friday the 8th of January 2010.
No fresh snow for us here in Galloway, but it remains cold.
Down by the weir in Newton Stewart, the birds congregate.
Not at this point, but parts of the Cree are frozen full width.
Over in Blairmount Park there's a well used animal(Probably foxes since they've been heard at night)burrow, surrounded by other colourful sections of snow and ice.
There's talk Scotland wide, amongst curlers, of 'Bonspiels' once the ice is the mandatory thickness of seven inches(I've just read that the big one due to take place on the Lake of Menteith has been cancelled because of safety fears). This broken piece of ice on Blairmount pond looks to be about 4 inches thick.
One or two dog walkers appear to have tested the ice already...my turn now!
Not even a creak as i tentatively make my way over.Once the local kids find out it's this thick they'll be having a great time.I'll keep an eye open.

Back at the Glebe,i disturb the birds feeding. Here the bigger ones line my neighbours rooftops.
