Sunday the 20th of June 2010.
It's the penultimate day before the summer solstice.
I've a feeling that the mixture of a pint of Guinness,Haggis and Chicken and Mint Parfait yesterday had something to do with me being awake at 3am this morning.
At 3.30 and with my bedroom window open I heard the first sounds of the awakening birds in Doonhill Woods at the top of my garden.
Knowing there was no way I'd get back to sleep, I got up and dressed and by 3.45am I was in the woods recording the sounds.
This is the pick of the next 25 minutes.
The only other noises were the occasional lorry on the A75,and a very late night revel spilling out from a nearby house. They sounded like they'd had a skinful.Peace and quiet and birdsong soon reigned again.
I,ve been having trouble sleeping too Jim and keep waking up at 4 or 5 o clock every morning.Thought it was the heat til it dawned on me I was leaving the window open and the dawn sing song was the culprit.By the time I,d woken up properly it had gone silent again leaving me wondering why I was awake so early.
