Lunar Eclipse December 2010

It's a full moon on Monday the 27th of December 2010.
On the morning of the winter solstice there's a lunar eclipse.

I managed a half decent picture of the moon the night before, but come the morning I struggled to get any good pictures of the eclipse.

I was a bit late viewing the eclipse and the crescent was almost gone.

The bottom picture was the last view I got as the moon dropped below my horizon.

  1. By complete luck I woke up to catch the eclipse reaching completion after which time the weather decided I'd seen enough - frankly more than I had expected.

  3. hi there.

it's great to catch up with your blog. really impressive pictures as usual. we had thick mist on the morning of the eclipse so saw nothing. if i wasn't so scared that you might meet an ugly fate when you are finding the perfect picture i would congratulate you on getting the best pictures of the ice and snow this year but i don't want to encourage you so i won't. :-)
