On Wednesday the 11th of April 2012, me and my visiting family went to the Galloway Wildlife Conservation Park at Kirkcudbright.
Here's a video and some of the pictures taken that day.
Watch out for the young man and the polecat !
Music by Déanta is 'Waltz of the White Lilies'
There were a few showers when we first arrived and some of the animals were reluctant to make an appearance, but perseverance paid off and we had a lovely day.
We finished a great day on Carrick Shore.

What a wonderful outing Jim, gorgeous series of photos, my all time favourite is the owl though, I think they are the most beautiful and amazing bird ever!
ReplyDeleteHope you are well.
Jim, awesome video, your getting pretty good at that! Looks like we share many of the same animals around here too.
ReplyDeleteSome nice animal photos Jim.Looks a lovely place.
ReplyDeleteWhat marvelous music to go with the video I thoroughly enjoyed both.
ReplyDeleteThank you Rose, although these owls were in a wildlife park, we have a lot in the wild here in South West Scotland including escapees from Birds of Prey centres.
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful.
Thanks Michael, but I don't think we can really compete with Alberta's wildlife.
It's always worth a visit Bob, but try and not go on a rainy day. Most of the animals here like the sunshine.
Hi Gordon, I was looking for a piece of music to fit my video I couldn't believe it when this came up.
I remember seeing some of the band a few years ago jamming at
The Skerry Inn, Newton Crommelin
Must have been 3 o'clock in the morning when we left.
There's more of their music on
MySpace
Hi Jim, ooh, now you 've tempted me, I really want to go back for a visit. Since my boy grew up we haven't really had an excuse! Might need to borrow a child lol. I loved your thoughts on what brings you peace, I agree a goodnights sleep does do wonders and that waking up to an "all's right with the world" feeling is priceless.
ReplyDeletecool animals!! i haven't been to a zoo in a long time, and never a wildlife conservation park. i need to go to one!
ReplyDeleteAmazing pictures!! Most zoo pictures with us are of the fencing in focus, background blurred; background in focus, fencing blurred; animal high-tailing off shot, or teeny tiny specks of some exotic mystery centre shot far far far away!
ReplyDeleteI was last there with the kids at least ten years ago - it's a good wee animal park (when they manage not to loose one of their lynx). It's alway surprising to think what is hidden behind that wood on the hill.
ReplyDeleteHope your scan went well yesterday.
