The Last Ever Leuchars Air Show September the 7th 2013

It's Saturday the 7th of September and I'm at Leuchars in Fife with my aunt and cousin to witness the end of an era.
It's the last ever AIRSHOW to be held at Leuchars. The R.A.F are moving out to Lossiemouth and the army will be taking over the base.

I took lots of photographs and some video. I'll let the pictures and video do the talking.
The photographs I've sorted into some sort of category and I'll begin with the colourful display of the .......

RED ARROWS

RUNWAY AND TAKE OFF

I took a fair amount of video but the rope barrier and filming directly into the sun has meant a lot of ruined footage. I've still managed to get fifteen minutes watchable however.

THE BLADES

IN THE AIR

The Static Displays and Other Stuff

Some lovely ladies to finish this post.

I was probably 10 or 11 when I made my first visit to the Leuchars Air Display.
It's a shame it's leaving the Kingdom of Fife.

What a wonderful weekend in the county of my childhood.

  3. Looks like a grand day out being spoilt by a great plane selection, the lovely ladies too.

I've seen the red arrows in recent years quite accidentally, when you're nipping along at those kinds of speeds it's impossible to contain yourself to paying customers.

  6. Thanks for your comments folks.
I believe that the armed forces taking over will be the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, a REME battalion and the Royal Military Police. Perhaps we'll be looking at the Leuchars Military Festival in the future.
