Weekend Visitors

It's the first weekend in September 2010 and I'm not walking with the ramblers today.
Friends from England are up for a few days.

The following pictures are from a few of the places we visited.

A windy day at Corsewall.

Not the brightest of days at Portpatrick, but the tea break was welcome.

A couple of characters at the Smugglers Cove.

It's the Portpatrick Folk Festival this weekend.

Here's a short clip from the Saturday afternoon session in the village hall.

I might try to get more footage next year.

Over in Stranraer, the ferry pulled out and the food was good.

I'm in Creetown early enough on Sunday morning to take a short walk into Balloch Woods. The morning dew caught the plant life beautifully.

The Whinnie Face project and the incoming tide.

Something strange going on at Cairn Holy.

A continental contingent of classic cars and a visit to the 'Mill on the Fleet' at Gatehouse.

A very welcome Ice Cream at Rainton....

....was followed by a relaxed exploration of Carrick Shore.

"I beg you, don't jump my love"

It's a nice afternoon in Kirkcudbright.

The sign on the front door read, "We are not a shop,we just like cats".Lovely..

There's lots of plaques and information boards around Kirkcudbright.

This wonderfully kept garden brought about the second of three or four 'Small World' encounters over the weekend.
The lady living here has a daughter in England in a village where I used to work.

The first was an enquiry about a farm near Kirkcolm....answered by a man living five miles away from my friends in England.Another was a lorry driver who used to run between Scunthorpe and Galloway, and another was an Irish priest.Small world indeed.

The Jaguar I had the pleasure of being chauffeured around in over the weekend.

Food and drink at the Bladnoch.
It's been a lovely weekend. Thanks for coming up folks.

  1. Well what do you know - you were in the same place at the same time as me. The picture of Georgina (big purple dress) playing the tea chest base has just missed me by a couple of feet (I was sitting at the first table of the next door pub - though secretly eating the Waterfronts food)
