I'd just been a nice long walk and Jane had been shopping.
At the junction where she picked me up we saw a sign for the RAF Burtonwood Heritage Centre.

After lunch we decided we'd pay a visit.
Some of my earliest memories are from this area, my dad had been transferred from RAF Northcoats in Lincolnshire to RAF Croft near Warrington and we were in quarters on the camp.
I was only 4 years old and one incident comes to mind. Me and Billy Griffiths were grounded for throwing stones and breaking windows. Looking at the pictures on the Croft page I think I recognise which windows ! 😊

Jane's dad was in the Fleet Air Arm so this was a visit we were both nterested in.
Much of Burtonwood is now in the hands of Gullivers World Theme park,

and they work in conjunction with the heritage centre, so families with children get to know a little bit of history.
It's free admission but after visiting you'll want to buy a souvenir or put some money in the donations globe.
There's a 12 minute film of archive footage and the staff are friendly and very knowledgeable.
This was a brilliant place to visit and I hope my pictures do it justice.
We will hopefully be back.
