Slideshows

It's the 16th 0f January 2010.
Due to a very sore throat, prudence has kept me from going on todays walk with the ramblers.
Therefore, instead of a walk today,i'm linking a number of my Picasa Web Albums to the blog.
The majority of pictures are photographs i've taken in the last three years, but scattered amongst them will be occasional pictures from other photographers and sources.
Hope you enjoy.
N.B.Give the albums a moment to load

Forth Bridges and Beyond

It's Friday the 12th of September 2008,and I'm on my way to the Kingdom of Fife.
The purpose of my visit will be a trip to Leuchars on Saturday for the Air Display.
Once over the Forth Road Bridge I dropped down to North Queensferry to take the following pictures.

The last picture of these five is the result of two pictures on a panorama programme.

I moved up to the Queensferry Hotel and Business Centre for these next pictures.

I couldn't resist taking a picture of this notice on the business centre wall.Whoever the artist was did a really good job, there's no visible clues that the notice has been interfered with.I haven't figured out the original message either.
Now on the high road above Burntisland,I spot this circling buzzard...
...and a view back to the bridge.
I spotted this classic in Burntisland. This was the view from Kinghorn Harbour.
A couple of hazy unpublishable pictures in Kirkcaldy saw the conclusion of my picture taking for the day.

Blackquarter and Skaith Farm Walk

While looking for the Blackquarter Arrow of the previous post,i took some pictures.
Here's a few of them.

Very tasty brambles.

This pussycat was a little wary of me...

...as was this lovely horse.

Just off the path i saw water reflecting.Once through a bit of undergrowth i came upon this lily pond.I really wanted a macro shot, but the water was too deep and i had to make do with zooming in.

At Skaith the farmer informed me these big boys were Texels. They showed no fear of me as i passed.

I think this might be a Shire. He looked too big to be a Gypsy Cob.

Hornsea

The end of August 2008 saw me take up an invite to stay with friends in their holiday cottage in Rolston near Hornsea in the East Riding of Yorkshire. These are a few of the pictures i took. The odd additional photograph taken on my friends camera will be uploaded when i get them.

This is the lovely Violet cottage. The owner is a farmer who's land it sits on.

There's a short circular walk from the village where half a field of sunflowers bloomed.

Here just a few hundred yards west of Rolston is a view taking in Flamborough Head in the distance.Picturesque round bales are everywhere at the moment.

The friendly farmer takes time out for a chat.

I'm not sure what this wild flower is.Perhaps some sort of Crane's Bill.A large bee had just vacated it.
A nice evening at the seafront and the Hornsea Inshore Rescue are out training.Hornsea Inshore rescue is an independent rescue service manned entirely by volunteers, and funded by the generosity of the general public and local businesses.
More pictures of these heroes later in the blog, but you can visit their site at http://www.hornseainshorerescue.co.uk/

I sometimes get wierd and wonderful images in fading light.I love the way this one's turned out, with the lifeboat and crew motionless, and the tractor seemingly moving very fast.

The sunsets are becoming decidedly autumnal.

Meanwhile on the farm...

...the youngsters are feeding.

This herd of Jersey cows, were ever inquisitive during our stay. Are all Jersey cows so friendly?

Hornsea Mere is generally described as the largest natural freshwater lake in Yorkshire.Hence it attracts lots of visitors of the winged variety.

The geese and ducks are used to visitors

On a trip to New Zealand a while back,i saw black swans on Lakes Taupo and Rotorua.
Blacker than this fellow i think.
The island in the middle of the Mere is known as Swan Island.

It's the last day of August and there's a sea mist down on Hornsea beach.

There's quite a bit of activity though.

A fishing boat gets towed in.

The mist's lifting as the Hornsea Inshore Rescue crew come in from their training.

A crew member races the tractor.
It's nearly the end of this lovely mini break, but we've to call in at Mere View Avenue.

There's quite a bit of activity in PeeJay's garden...

...but this fellow seemed a bit sluggish.
I'll be blogging some more on my trip south, but this concludes the Hornsea pictures.

A few days in Fife-Stenton Pond, Finglassie

Thursday the 21st of August 2008 is the last day of my mini break in the Kingdom of Fife, and the rain seems to be letting up.
A short walk from my aunts house is the lovely Stenton Pond.
The following pictures were all taken there.

What a joy it was to watch such a relaxed family of swans and their adopted duck.
