First look at downtown Nashville

It was a long day coming over. Up early to book in at Manchester airport. Customs and security at Dulles, Washington a nightmare, then finding wet snow in Nashville !
My accomodation however is brilliant, thanks to my hosts and Airbnb.
Wet snow Monday night an almost Scottish dreich day today.
I eventually got down in the rain to Nashville's Broadway. The live music coming from almost every doorway soon had me a little choked however. It's been a long time coming. Here's a few pictures.
(wi-fi isn't very good, so posts will be few)

A Snowy Walk in South West Scotland

Sunday the 24th of March 2013. It's stopped snowing and the sun is out. This is a photo story of a walk I took showing snowdrifts, animal tracks, the Galloway Hills, sheep and lambs and a couple of birds.
Music from http://archive.org. Piano Concerto No.21 In C Major Elvira Madigan and Sentimental Medley. Album ALANSARI ZAIN Piano 919, available from http://archive.org/details/b9rh.com_2111

Update.
N.B I've a feeling that the first piece of music is actually Elvira Madigan by Richard Clayderman. If it is a middle eastern artiste Alansari Zain then it's a note perfect copy.

Castle Douglas

Sunday the 20th of July, and it's the start of Castle Douglas Civic Week.
My purpose is to try and get some good footage of the Dangleberries.

There are two bands tonight and the first is the Sensational Mary Barclay Band.I managed to get at least one good number recorded for youtube.COMING SOON!

When the Dangleberries took the stage,my vantage position was overrun by over enthusiatic young fans. The only place i could move to was one side, which turned out to be not where i wanted to be.Back home reviewing my footage, the video was ok but the sound was a total distortion.Roll on September when i can upgrade my video equipment.

I kept seeing this rather tall chap during the evening.I should have asked him to do my videoing for me.

Turns out he's leading the historical torchlight parade down Castle Douglas's main thoroughfare.

Quite a lot of torches are lit.

As they head off,the suns going down. It's a bright evening,so the torches aren't burning as brightly as they may have been, but it's still quite a spectacle.
Must go again next year.

Glastonbury Glimpse

I've borrowed these pictures from glastonburyfestivals.co.uk

This is the legend that is Nik Turner founder member of Hawkwind.
He's been at Glastonbury every year since 1970.
Read a review at
http://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/glastonline2008.aspx?id=3011
That name rings a bell!.

The saxophonist accompanying him here is Chris Cundy who plays on a regular basis with COUNTRY DAD / GRACE & DELETE / GANNETS / GUILLEMOTS / THE COURTESY GROUP / OLIE BRICE QUARTET / THE SCHLEPS FROM STRATHBUNGO / LONGSTONE / BRICKWERK / DUO WITH ALEX WARD + WEAVELS
He's ok with me.
This is his MySpace address

I'm sure the young lady who took these pictures wont mind me using them.
Is photography a family trait?

This is my first tryout of Microsofts Picture Story3.Knockman Wood is part of the Galloway Forest Park and fairly close to Newton Stewart.I was hoping that video uploaded direct to the blog would be of a better quality, but it would appear not.Probably standard Google,i think i'll be uploading to Vimeo for their HD quality soon.
